G Day
Monday 20 May saw Mount Carmel Catholic College celebrate G Day (Grandparents, Godparents or Good Friends) for Year 7 students. Around 90 guests attended to participate in a Liturgy, which reflected upon the important role that “G” people play in our lives. Following the Liturgy, guests attended a range of Year Seven lessons, that were action-packed with visible learning activities such as Sewing, Folio work, Computer Design, Kahoot, Cricket, Team Challenge Activities, Biblical Exegesis and Scone Cooking.
Year 7 students, guests and staff then enjoyed a sumptuous morning tea that was provided by the College Canteen and Hospitality staff, as well as the Year 7's who cooked scones earlier in the morning. The event was an outstanding success, which was the result of a collaborative effort from a range of Mount Carmel staff who prepared and presented the Liturgy, Year 7 students who participated in readings, prayers and reflections throughout the Liturgy and Year 10 Student Leaders who acted as tour guides for the lesson visits.
On behalf of Year 7 staff and students, I thank everyone involved in the preparation and planning of the morning, the magnificent contribution of out Years 7 and 10 students for their involvement and assistance and to our guests, who again displayed what a supportive community we have at Mount Carmel.
