Football Derby

In order to improve student exercise during lunch, Michael Bzdega came up with the idea of having a football Derby. This turned out to be a highly successful event.

The 2022 Term 4 Football Derby between the Seniors and Juniors teams had a combined number of 95 people on the pitch. In the first couple minutes of the game, there was a handball given to the senior team. Craig Llorando lines up the shot to put the senior up 1-0. Aziz Davids was soon to score a banger of a goal hitting the post and bouncing inside the goals, but the VAR saw differently and the goal was unfortunately disallowed.

In the second half the junior boys, Billy Elliot scored a screamer of a goal to tie it up 1-1. As the game progressed Josh Whitehead saved the senior boys from another goal, executing a perfect Brexit tackle. The referee saw differently, and Josh was awarded a 10-minute sin-bin. Zane Brooks was the MVP of the match saving many goals, gaining many interceptions, and creating opportunities to score. Nearing the end of the match with 5+ minutes extra time Pete Baltazar was awarded a penalty. He carefully lined up his shot, took a couple of steps back, took a deep breath and put the ball away in the bottom right. The keeper had no chance.

The game concluded 2-1, seniors winning the cup. Thank you to all participants and we hope to see you next year.
