It is a 50 minute, online multiple choice competition testing critical thinking and problem solving skills in science, not just factual recall. Questions are set in real-life, contemporary contexts, making them relatable (and interesting).  This will be held at the College on Thursday 18th May 2023.

Each student who takes part in the Big Science Competition will receive a certificate detailing their performance.

All years 7-10 students at Mount Carmel Catholic College are eligible and encouraged to enter. This would be of particular benefit to those who are considering Stage 6 Science courses and see a profession in science in their future. The cost to enter is $7.00.

For those interested in participating, please indicate this on the note that your child  will receive in their Science lesson. These letters should then be returned to their Science teacher. Payment will be through Compass in early Term 2.
