As we head towards the end of another successful term of learning, there is certainly no suggestion that we are winding down towards a break, particularly if the past week is any indication.

We have seen a range of important activities take place which are important for the ongoing spiritual, learning and wellbeing development of students. Bishop Brian’s visit to speak to Year 12 on Wednesday night, the Year 11 2024 Subject Information Night on Wednesday evening, Year 12 State of Origin Social on Wednesday night, College Photos and Year 11 2024 Subject Marketplace on Thursday and Year 7 Excursion to Western Sydney Zoo today were the major events that took place. In Pastoral lessons earlier today, Year 8 participated in the “Job Jump” program, an online careers initiative that looks at goal-setting and resume building, Year 9 took part in a Mental Health presentation courtesy of the Black Dog Institute, Year 10 engaged in some follow-up activities from their Subject Marketplace day yesterday and Years 11 & 12 conducted assemblies with a focus on the remaining term of learning for their respective Preliminary and HSC courses. A lot of time and energy goes into the preparation and presentation of these various programs and I thank all staff and students for their contribution and cooperation over the course of the past week.

A particular thanks to all staff, students, families and carers for their support with the annual photos yesterday. The cooperation of students in terms of uniform, grooming and behaviour on the day and the support of staff in supervising and assisting the process drew significant praise from the photographers, who have worked at Mount Carmel for some time. A reminder for those individuals and families who were absent yesterday that catch-ups will take place on Monday 26th June between 9 am and 11.30am. If families or carers have any questions regarding this matter, please contact the Front Office. A reminder that envelopes need to be brought on Monday irrespective of whether photos are being purchased or not.

Mr Lo Cascio has made reference to interviews next week and that there will be no Newsletter. Could I take this opportunity to wish all members of our community a peaceful break and again thank everyone for their ongoing support throughout the past term.

All the best for the week ahead.

Mr Simon Huntly
