Around the Grounds

Welcome to week 5 of sport! We turn our focus towards the NSWCCC Netball School Based Competition and MISA Golf Tournament, where our talented athletes showcased their prowess in their respective sports. We also saw round 4 of MISA get underway with only one round left in week 6 before semi finals. We have multiple teams still in the hunt for good finals positions so stay tuned to see where we end up next week. In other upcoming events, we also have the staff VS Year 12 competition which will take place later this term. This is a great way to help send off Year 12 with a final chance to show their sporting abilities in attempting to beat the staff. A big thank you in advance to both our sports captain Arron and Janita who are helping run this event.

vs MAS

Loss 58-34

William Montgomery

Excellent performance from the boys, coming up against the top team in the competition. We kept the score line respectable, only four goals in it. It was an outstanding effort by Monty in the middle, winning everything and chasing hard. We started the second half a bit flat though which meant we were playing catch up for the rest of the game. That was until Mateo came on up front. His presence was enough to scare the Macarthur Anglican boys away which meant our other forwards like Rydon and Nick were able to get more possession. Unfortunately we’re going to have a bye next week due to the Magdalene team forfeiting in advance. It means we’ll have time to prepare for a big match against John Therry. Thanks for the effort boys.

vs JTCC

Draw 12-12

Kayde Hughes & Leon Teiotu In the first round of competition we went up against JTCC and lost 34-4. Today after a few weeks together we were able to put in a strong performance and had a 12 all draw. The team keep turning up for each other and played good solid rugby league. We maintained possession and moved up in a line and this made all the difference. It was excellent to see the boys not drop their heads when they went down 12-6 late. They got back up the other end, then with consistent goal line pressure we had Leon, who already having played a full game, make a huge run to get the levelling try. Kayde then was able to kick the goal to make it 12-12. The MVP’s for the game were Kayde Hughes and Leon Teiotu.

Netball

Years 7-8 Girls

PONT

vs BAC

Win 10-8

Eva Alvarado & Ella Persson

A hard fought win by the girls today. After being down all game, the girls pieced together a thrilling final quarter scoring a solid 5 goals to get us the win. The defence was on fire with much needed intercepts and tips down the entire court. Eva was exceptional and dominated in every position she played. Ella’s fitness and skilful passing made her a force to be reckoned with. Well done girls. A close, yet well deserved win.

BELT

vs BAC

Loss 27-19

Miyah Meurant & Chelsea Sirec The girls came out strong today, the first quarter being tied and everyone providing a strong defence and attack. Unfortunately we had too many turnovers in the second quarter and were unable to bring it back. Our defensive end was strong even with height against us, with Miyah able to provide some much needed intercepts. Chelsea was on point with her shooting today, finding space and not giving her opponent any opportunity to get a rebound. Keep your chins up girls, we’ll get them next week!

HOBR

VS WCCS

Win 103

Elisha Phillipes Maria

The girls continued their impressive batting by getting 5 across the home plate in the first innings. Some impressive pitching by Elisha helped keep the game tight going into the second innings only letting 3 WCCS players get home. The strong batting continued with the girls again getting 5 across the home plate to tale the game into an unmatchable lead. Well done girls!

HEAS

VS THAC

Won 10-1

Charlee Yule

A dominant performance displayed by the girls today against Thomas Hassall in warm conditions. The girls demonstrated skillful attacking plays, and solid defensive efforts with the few changes that Thomas Hassall created. Charlee Yule led from the front after slotting a number of goals. Congratulations on a fantastic win today. Looking forward to next week!

KING

Vs THAC

Loss 3-1

Dylan Jacobs After taking a 1-0 lead in the second half with a remarkable long-range strike from Izral Marmont, the boys unfortunately conceded four goals within a span of ten minutes, losing a game that was well within their grasp. The situation was further complicated by the opposing team fielding 12 players, which significantly impacted the match. Despite the loss, Dylan Jacobs stood out as the man of the match, making several crucial saves and delivering an outstanding performance.

BERB

vs THAC

Loss 3-1

Vincent Brancati

Not the result we wanted despite. Another week where we conceded early in the game and started on the back foot. With the temperature higher today, the boys looked a little fatigued early in the match and struggled to keep up against a well rehearsed Thomas Hassall team. Nonetheless, the boys clawed back to 1-1 in the second half and had 3 very makeable opportunities, but only towards the end did they let some easily defendable plays through the middle to end the match in 3-1. Unlucky boys, onto next week we go again.
