RYPEN Program
On the 9-11 August, I had been sponsored to represent the Rotary Club Gregory Hills Next Gen for the RYPEN Program at Youthworks, Port Hacking Conference Centres, Royal National Park. The (RYPEN) Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment aims to provide opportunities for young people to develop "life skills", an understanding on how to set and achieve goals and to challenge personal boundaries in order to make a positive impact in our society.
The proceedings of the camp revolved around a primary focus of teamwork and collaboration. Hence, the weekend required us to progress being spread across four different teams. The activities involved required us to engage in public speaking, social awareness and group problem-solving activities. Having been given various presentations regarding mental-health, well-being and how to be a better leader, we had completed the program by presenting a showcase for the Rotarians who sponsored us to represent our respective clubs.
The experience as a whole was enriching and had broaden our horizons culturally, socially and academically. It was an honour to represent our college and the Rotary Club Gregory Hills Next Gen at such an event, and I strongly encourage others to actively engage in challenging but rewarding experiences like this. To take advantage of this opportunity, you can apply at your nearest Rotary Club.
