Diocesan Events - Term 1
DIOCESAN EVENTS – TERM 1
Mount Carmel is a part of the Diocese of Wollongong so we compete in Diocesan Sporting events throughout the college year. At these events / carnivals, schools from the Diocese of Wollongong come together to compete for points towards the Vince Villa Trophy that is awarded to the Champion School at the end of the college year. Mount Carmel historically performs well at these Diocesan events and last year finished a close 3rd place overall in the Vince Villa Trophy.

NOMINATIONS – APPLICATION PROCESS
(To self-nominate and get approved for these events, students need to be competing at a representative level in their chosen sport).The process has changed slightly for students to nominate and register for individual trials. If you are interested in finding out more about these pathways, please come and see Mrs Pontin at the sports office.

MCCC Sporting Stars - Blake Bolwell (Year 8)
We are thrilled to inform the College community that Blake Bolwell (Year 8) was crowned a National Champion at the National Futsal Championships held in Canberra between 13 and 17 January this year. Blake was a valuable member of his Under 12’s NSW futsal team and what a successful tournament the team had this year.
The boys played a total of 8 games across the week, winning every game except one of their pool games against QLD. The grand final match ended up being the highly anticipated re-match where the NSW team met the QLD team. Blake’s NSW team were victorious in extra time winning 6-3.
It was a great experience for Blake and his team mates down at the Australian Institute of Sport and he enjoyed the week immensely. Well done Blake!
